Welcome to KCarlton Designs!

Hi! My name is Katie. Here’s a little more about me below…

I graduated from Robert Morris University (Moon Township, PA) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Media Arts and a concentration in Graphic Design in May 2017. After graduating, I continued to practice graphic design in the Greater Pittsburgh area. I have been working in the Denver Metro Area of Colorado since September 2019 as a UI/UX/Product Designer.

I am from York, PA and played many sports growing up. Born with a competitive drive, I developed into a compelling athlete that has been able to grow to understand how to be competitive and strategically plan out the next play, or in the case of design, the next step of a project. My main sport shifted from soccer to field hockey in 2007 and I pursued my goals in this sport all the way up to the Division 1 collegiate level at Robert Morris University in 2013. Walking onto the team was one of the most challenging and pivotal moments of my college career as I gained a lot of values and knowledge from the experience. I can attest that hard work really does end up paying off.

My competitive drive continued into the classroom. I worked hard to top marks on projects and tests while balancing academics with the student athlete schedule while at RMU. I am proud to have achieved Dean’s List for 8 semester in the School of Communication and Information Systems (SCIS) and be recognized on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Honor Roll for 2 years. The Women’s Leadership and Mentorship Program (WLMP) also welcomed me as a Peer Mentor in 2015 for 2 years. I have also had my student work presented in 4 consecutive juried Gold Shows at the RMU Media Arts Gallery.

My free time includes hiking with my cattle dog and watching movies that specialize in unique special effects. I plan to pick up illustrating and painting again soon.
